San Diego-Navy Relationship Reaches 100 Years

SAN DIEGO -- An exhibition of historical photos will be unveiled Monday at the USS Midway Museum to tag the 100th day of remembrance of the U.S. Navy's presence in San Diego Bay.

The exhibition written documents U.S. Navy activity going back to 1908, when an armada of war vessels known as "The Great White Person Fleet" under President Teddy Franklin Roosevelt sailed into San Diego Bay.

The collection, which show windows San Diego's Navy heritage, will go a lasting museum feature.

A 6 p.m. event will be held at the USS Midway Museum, 910 N. Seaport Drive, to tag the exhibition's installing on the carrier's bow.
